Abstract
The invention relates to a mast system with a column (2) that passes vertically through a tripod head (1) and is extended by adding tubes from below. The clamping guide (9) that guides and holds the column is attached to the head (1) through a two-axis gimbal, and the gimbal is fixed relative to the head (1) by a lock (11) independent of the clamp. With the gimbal free, the axis of the clamping guide (9) is brought to vertical even if the head (1) is tilted; when the centre of gravity of the column is below the pivot, this happens under the column’s own weight. The gimbal is locked in this position and the column (2) is raised by sliding axially in the locked guide. The column therefore rises vertically on uneven ground as well, with only a rough adjustment of the legs.
