Abstract

The invention relates to a hand winch (1) that raises and lowers the column of mast systems extended by adding tubes from below, and that stops paying out the rope by itself when the rope goes slack. The hand winch (1) has a follower pulley (5) that bears on the rope where the rope (4) leaves the drum (3) and is pressed towards the rope by an arm spring (8). While the rope carries the load, the follower pulley (5) stays in its working position. When the rope goes slack, the arm spring (8) turns the follower arm (6); the stop tongue (9) on the arm engages a stop (13) on the drum flange (10) and locks the drum (3) in the pay-out direction only. The winding direction stays free; when the rope is loaded again, the follower pulley (5) lifts the tongue out of the stop. The load therefore does not hang at the end of a slack rope, cannot shock-load the rope when a snagged load comes free, and the user notices the snag at once.
