Safety Mast System That Mechanically Prevents an Unlocked Tube Joint from Rising

Abstract

The invention relates to a mast system in which a column (3), extended by adding tubes (4) from below, passes vertically through a guide (2) in a head (1). Each joint between the tubes (4, 5) has a locking slide (8), which locks by itself under a spring (9) when the new tube is pushed into the column, and a flag (11) connected to it. Unless the locking slide (8) fully reaches its locked position, the flag (11) protrudes beyond the outer surface of the tubes. The guide (2) does not let a protruding flag through; an unlocked joint cannot enter the head (1) and the column cannot be raised. In one embodiment, the lock contacts (12) at each joint are connected in series through conductors (13) in the tubes, and the indicator (14) on the lifting plate (17) works only when all joints are locked.
